A Brief History

Merritt Township is in the southeast corner of Bay County, Michigan It is almost 32 sq/mi. Most of the land in is considered Agricultural and many of the farms are family-owned and have been handed down generation after generation. This community, also known as Munger, is located just south of Bay City and north of Saginaw, along M-138.

Munger was once known as the potato capital of the state. Potatoes are still grown in the area and the Munger Potato Festival is still held every year.
