About the Board
Duties & Responsibilities
- The BOR hears appeals from property owners who disagree with their property’s assessment, valuation, or classification.
- The board can make corrections to the roll for clerical errors, mutual mistakes of fact, or if property has been wrongfully assessed or omitted.
- The board reviews the assessment roll according to the facts that existed on tax day, regardless of any changes that occurred after that date.
- The BOR can grant certain exemptions, such as poverty exemptions, and may hear applications for late-filed small business exemptions.
- The board ensures that all property is accurately included on the roll and that the details are correct.
- The assessor must keep a permanent record of all the board’s proceedings, resolutions, and decisions.
- No one other than the board can make or authorize changes to the assessment roll.
- Appointed by the Township Board for a 2 year term, consisting of 3 people

Dates, Times, & Locations
The board of review meets every March, July & December. Meetings are held at the township hall.
